Morris Communications Slashes Wages, or Burying the Lead for Good

A very good friend works at the Amarillo Globe News, and, after months of slow downsizing, those that are left are having their wages slashed. It really saddens me to watch the print journalism industry die in coughs and spurts. I think Morris Communications owns some local TV/radio outlets as well, and it is unclear how this will touch those peoples' lives. Keep them in your thoughts and/or prayers. The trenches all seem so quiet and peaceful until people around you start exploding.

A New Profession

I have been blessed to reconnect with many old friends via Facebook, mostly from high school. That led to making friends with some of their friends and having a place to sharpen my skills as a world renowned Smart Ass. In the last week, I have started getting the nicest feedback from people I've never met, along with compliments from people I have not seen in 20 years and even people I may have known but no longer remember. Making people laugh makes me feel good, and it seems very wrong to receive praise for doing something so self indulgent. I would like to gather some of the various "reviews" somewhere to read the next time I get really down. Life is short, mine especially so, and to be blessed with so many kind people in my life, even at the level of Facebook chatter, is wonderful.

I wonder if I can put "Facebook Writer" on my resumé. The pay has been better than money.

I, Blogger!

Who would possible read this crap? Besides you, of course. I always wanted a blog, and now I have nothing to say; so, here are my 4 favorite smells:

1. New Baby Heads
2. Twenty Minutes Before a Rainstorm
3. Sizzling Fajitas
4. The Coffee Aisle

Ok. I've started off on the wrong foot lying to you, but the new baby head one is true.
